A study on the indigenous knowledge and traditional practices of the hill farmers of Nepal was also conducted under FRP Phase I and the report was published in the form of a book "Dynamics of the Hill Farming Systems: Implications to Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood in the Hills of Nepal" in 2002. The study came up with the recommendation that a region-specific hill agricultural research and development policy should be formulated for the development, conservation and utilization of available indigenous knowledge, traditional farming practices of local communities, and agro-biodiversity.
